Project yacht. 1976 Winner of Royal Western / Observer Singlehanded Transatlantic Race
Built in 1974 byTylers of Maidstone.
Some of the photos are historical- be aware!
Robertsons Golly was undergoing a refit and repair by a charity but this was abandoned but to Covid lockdowns and personal circumstances. I purchased her with the intention of completing the project and dreams of a lengthy retirement cruise. My circumstances have now changed and I can no longer give her the time required.
The good bits.
Her history obviously makes her interesting, with many complimentary comments while ...

One of the last Sigma 33s built by MARINE PROJECTS LTD. Her first owner was the famous David Hopkins, hence the orignal name "Surveyor of Hamble". This boat never got the hard sailing that can be got from class sailing, which is the reason why i bought it. Sigma 33's are a fine well known design. From a racing point of view the SIGMA 33 OOD is capable of holding its place. As a cruiser it has the right design to be able to keep you safe if you should happen to be caught in foul weather.

French production boatbuilders Beneteau require no introduction from me, having been in business since 1884! The First 40.7 was initially designed by Bruce Farr in 1999 and very quickly gained popularity with nearly 700 produced in total. I would imagine they are probably the best known of the cruiser-racers, they still turn up in numbers at club regattas all over the country and as a family cruising boat they offer excellent accommodation as well as being fun to sail
This 40.7 has had a good career under RORC, from channel races to Round Britain and Ireland and she's crossed the Atlantic t...

The Sigma 33 designed by David Thomas proved to be an instant success when introduced in 1978. The concept of a one-design race fleet that is still capable of successfully racing under general handicap rules and being a comfortable cruising yacht appealing to sailors around Europe. The design has proven to be a competent offshore racer with many Sigma 33’s still racing competitively in offshore events today. The designs heavy weather performance also makes the yachts attractive to those looking for a rewarding cruiser, several having crossed the Atlantic.
A promising racing yacht wit...
