Twisters are considered by some to be an absolute classic long keel cruiser. First built all in wood and the later ones all composite. Speedwell is an all GRP Twister, moulded in 1979 and launched June 1982. Gol Mohur is a composite Twister built in 1974 that has been fully restored. The hull was stripped, epoxy coated and repainted by Swale Marina and a new toerail fitted. Prior to relaunch in 2021 the boat was antifouled. The deck was stripped and repainted with antislip paint. All woodwork inside and out was repaired or replaced as necessary and painted or varnished and the inside of the hull repainted. The windows were removed and refitted. In 1963, Kim Holman designed and had (at Upham's in Brixham) the first Twister commissioned for himself and his brother Jack to race. That season they cleaned up and subsequently over 200 have been built since, originally all timber and more recently composite.
