Description

Welsh Rose is a 60-foot traditional stern narrow boat built by Stoke Boats in 1989. Her claim to fame is winning the Marion Munk Rose Bowl for the Best Narrow Beam Pleasure Craft at the Inland Waterways Association’s National Rally at Waltham Abbey on the River Lea in the same year. The centre piece of this boat is the much admired and sort after engine: a Russell Newbery DM2 with PRM hydraulically operated gearbox. Engine room doors on each side of the cabin open to display this delightful engine (with polished brass rocker covers and copper pipework) to every gongoozler. The layout from the rear comprises of double bedroom with separate WC (Mansfield Traveller pump out toilet). A separate hand basin is fitted adjacent to the rear doors making this cabin self sufficient to the main facilities on the boat. Next comes the engine room which houses the engine and all the electrical systems on the boat. Forward of this is the pullman dinette which converts into a double bed. Next is the bathroom with hip bath and shower over, wash basin and Mansfield Traveller pump out toilet. Following this is the fully fitted galley with tiled worktops – gas hob, grill and oven, fridge, sink and drainer. At the front of the cabin is the cosy saloon with Morso Squirrel solid fuel stove, display cabinet, armchair and two-seater sofa. The hull of Welsh Rose has been over plated, and the boat was last out of the water, blacked and new anodes fitted in 2023. Current Boat Safety Certificate until 15/04/2025. Cratch and cover fitted over front well deck.
