1971 Custom Auxiliary Ketch
Pescadou is a one-off steel auxiliary ketch motorsailer designed as an ocean-going sailing vessel with a traditional trawler-shaped hull and canoe stern. Her tabernacle mounted masts and spars allow the rig to be lowered for canal passages.
A double forecabin, twin after cabin and saloon double comfortably accommodate six people. The saloon and galley are forward of the wheelhouse with a heads/shower compartment on the starboard side between the saloon and forecabin.
Powered by the famously reliable 4 cylinder Gardner 4LW diesel engine (65hp) when not under sail, she carries a full suite of sails (main, mizzen, self-tacking jib (boom-footed), a storm jib and two downwind cruising sails) and is robustly rigged for extended cruising.
Previous owners have used her as a liveaboard in which to tour the seas and waterways of Europe. Her 1,000 litre fresh water tank and diesel generator are ideal for extended passage making, or for a liveaboard.
The hull is in 5mm overlapped broad galvanised steel plate, the keel sections of 6mm plate, the superstructure of 3mm plate and the deck of 4mm, covered with 20mm caulked Teak planks, bedded on pitch and screw fastened from below.
