Sadie Dalton is an earlly (Mk1) design -built in early 1980s by Terry Heard in Tregatreath Mylor Bridge yard and named after her designer: Percy Dalton's daughter. She was raced by the Heard family for some years until Terry's death when she was converted to a yacht. whilst retaining the original outsized racing rig. I bought Sadie in Jan'18 as a winter restoration project when she was kept at Sam Heard's yard: Gaffers & Luggers in Mylor Bridge when the cockpit was removed and he installed an inboard diesel & running gear. A new cockpit was then constructed in mahogany around the engine. The original solid mast required some remedial work (partial delamination etc) -professionally undertaken and new cross trees fitted along with new standing rigging. .
She was relaunched in April'19 and is proving a very exciting and fast boat! She is very stiff and can handle 20knots of wind without difficulty as might be expected from her heavy displacement build. After completing the Falmouth Classics (achieving 7.2knots on a broad reach in 18knots). I reluctantly decided to sell her as running two boats is simply not practicable! She is currently on a swinging mooring just off from the RCYC (Falmouth) and the mooring is paid up until October.
