Langkawi Kedah Malaysia|
Our well maintained sailing yacht was built by the Feltz shipyard in Hamburg as a Scorpion III, designed as a motor sailor, made of solid steel. These series of boats are well known for their stability and ocean going ability. An ideal boat for circumnavigation and cruising.
The whole interior is a unique professional design, almost exclusively using teak wood. The layout is designed to accommodate five. Permanent living on it as a couple is quite comfortable. So we still do.
We are cruising in South East Asia, actually between Langkawi, Malaysia, and Phuket, Thailand.

In the forepeak the boat has an open cabin with one berth (1.10 x 1.80m).There is stowage space under the berth for sails and complete dive gear, including a dive compressor.
The saloon has two long berths. All upholstery has been renewed in 2015/16. On both sides there are bookshelves and little cupboards. Each side of the table can be folded down. About every inch below deck is full standing height. Under the saloon table we have got storage for two service batteries. A second bank of batteries is installed beneath the companionway steps.
Two stainless steel watertanks, each containing 350l of fresh water, are sitting under the gratings in front of the companionway steps. They are easy to access.
The aftcabin is very large and comfortable. It has got a sitting area with a little table, a double berth (1.40 x 1.90m), a wardrobe and book shelves.
The galley is located on the port side near the companionway steps and allows free passage into the aftcabin. Main features of the galley are: two stainless steel sinks, pressurized warm and cold water tap, an air convection oven with a vitroceramic cooking field and a separate microwave. Just bought it new.We have two fridges and a little potable Weco Freezer.
Different cupboards, drawers provide ample storage space for food and provisioning.
All is working with electrical power, supported by our 6KW generator. We don’t use liquid gas on board.
Launched in 1981 this Scorpion III has a long keel with bow thruster. She has a center cockpit half covered with a wooden deckhouse (built in NZ 2003), with solar panels on top.Panels are also at the port and starboard side as well as above the davits at the stern.

Our non-slip deck is covered with treadmaster Diamond pattern. Behind the center cockpit there are two additional aluminum diesel tanks, which are bolted to the deck (360 l in all). The tanks are covered with teakwood and we use them as benches.
At the bow of the sailing vessel there is a main German scoopanchor weighing 52kg on a new galvanized13mm chain (2014, 80m long),as well as an electric anchor winch by Lowfrans. The second anchor is also a scoop anchor, 40kg, on 10m of chain and 50m of rope. At the stern we additionally sport a Fortress 55 anchor on 10m of chain and 50m.
The third cabin is mainly used as a workshop and technical equipment room.
Next to the door you there is a sanitary unit with WC, sink and wardrobe.
Taking a shower is possible in the passageway into the aftcabin. The floor is basically a shower tray with teak gratings. There is also a second sink. An optional second warm and cold shower is installed in the cockpit. There is a seawater tap as well.
