Professionally built in Cape Town "Harlequin" is a 44 foot (LOA) steel, mono-hull yacht. This is a true blue water cruising vessel built to handle almost anything. The broad beam, large cockpit and spacious salon make for a very comfortable live aboard with two double cabins as well as pace in the saloon for 3 more single berths. The strong wing keel makes the her ideal for shallow areas like the intracoastal waterways and Bahamas.
She has safely crossed oceans and sailed some of the roughest coastlines with ease. She has the above water characteristics of a traditional yacht with a modern underbody and skeg mounted rudder, the propeller is in an aperture in the skeg immediately forward of the rudder. She is a Marconi cutter rig with bowsprit and aft cockpit with a strong steel pulpit and pushpit and boarding access either starboard, port or aft.
There is a large cockpit with port and starboard seating long enough to sleep on and an aft seat behind the steering wheel. The cockpit is protected by a composite dodger with large lexan windows and a sunbrella bimini which has the solar panels on a frame above it.
Harlequin has been on the hard in Grenada Marine Boatyard (https://www.grenadamarine.com) in the Eastern Caribbean for the past two and a half years and is now looking worse for wear. She will need repainting, de-rusting, steel work as well as some through hull fittings replaced amongst a list of other things.
She has just been surveyed and valued at US$70,000 but she will need time and money spent to get her ready to go cruising again hence the greatly reduced price. This is an absolute bargain for someone with the experience and skills needed to sort out the issues.
Grenada Marine boatyard is one of the few boatyards in the Caribbean which allows owners to live-aboard while doing repairs and maintenance and there is an Island Water World Chandlery onsite as well as a great restaurant and free wifi.
