The Bavaria 34 is actually closer to 36 ft overall rather than 34 ft, and in the words of 'Practical Boat Owner' magazine, is ".... an ideal starter boat for a young family, as well as an easy to handle cruiser for a mature couple often cruising alone." This 2000 example (a 2021 model year) is a well looked after and quite lightly used example of these popular cruisers, with a good cruising inventory. The present owner bought her through us two years ago, and has improved her substantially, fitting a bow thruster and a new 12" chartplotter as well as upgrading the autopilot and VHF. She is for sale now as the owner plans to buy larger.

The Bavaria 34 was introduced in 1999 as one of a series of models ranging from 32, 34, 36 and 38 ft. All of these were actually well over a foot longer overall than the nominal size - ie the Bavaria 34 is actually 35' 5" overall. The Bavaria 34 was sold with two interior options, twin aft double cabins primarily for the charter market, and the 'owners' version (as this yacht) with a single aft cabin.
The design is by J & J Design and predates the ultra broad stern era of later designs, but this gives an elegant yet modern appearance - 'Yachting Monthly' described her as ".... She's also quite pretty, looks woody and well built below".
The hulls are hand-laid GRP with kevlar reinforcement at the bow. Bavaria at that time were building 3,500 boats a year and used a lot of automation in the build process. Many of these models were bought for charter use both in the UK and especially in the Mediterranean, and charter operators need boats that withstand rough treatment. This example for sale though has only ever had private use in the UK.
She has a 7/8ths rig and this boat is fitted with Selden in-mast reefing. When combined with Furlex genoa reefing, all lines led back to the cockpit, a bow thruster and an electric windlass for the anchor, this makes her very easily handled.
She has a 7/8 fractional sloop rig, with Selden spars with in-mast furling mainsail. The S/S standing rigging is original from 2000/2001. Apart from the mainsail there is a furling genoa with Furlex, a spinnaker with pole and a storm jib with a removable inner forestay.
