This rare and perfect example of a Tahiti Ketch as designed by John Hanna was built in Colombia in 1995 using the finest South American woods. Her dimensions are:
Length: 32ft
Beam: 10ft
Draft: 4ft
Weight: 5.0 ton net & 10.57 ton gross.
In the last year she has been fully restored and refitted including having her hull professionally painted using AwlGrip. All her woodwork has been sanded and varnished and her brightwork in excellent condition.
The original Volvo engine has been replaced with a modern fully reconditioned Yanmar 3GM 27HP diesel engine.
Currently lying in St Martin (Caribbean) she has her two masts and associated standing and running rigging in storage due to the hurricane season.
Interior modifications include the fitting of a brand new eno stainless steel two burner gas cooker and a 12v fridge, both of which have never been used.
Other recent additions include a new Navman chart plotter installed with full CMAP Caribbean charts and a new Solara DSC VHF radio.
Other safety equipment includes an Arimar 4 person liferaft and four life jackets. The current ground tackle includes a 20kg CQR main anchor attached to 50m x 8mm chain and controled by a Simpson Lawrence manual windlass. There is also a second Danforth kedge anchor. Self steering is handled by an Aries windvane. |

Every once in a while - but not often - a truly special cruising boat appears on the market. Such a boat is "Francescana." She is a custom built Garcia Passoa 46 (Salt 47' Specifications)
"Francescana" was designed by Mortain Mavrikios based on a Harle design.
It seems redundant to call a Garcia yacht custom since each Garcia is a unique work representing the finest yacht quality available. But "Francescana" is a custom boat if we define the meaning of custom to be "special."
Twin rudder, daggerboard, custom rig, Dynema running rigging, Spectan stay, Antal hardware, expanded diesel and water tankage, custom interior and an attention to detail in quality construction, installation and equipment that exceeds expectations even for a Garcia.
She is well balanced on any point of wind and is normally handled by one person - usually with only the need of her autopilot remote control in hand. She effortlessly rolls out 170+nm passages without pressing herself or her crew.
Part of her brilliance is that throughout she was designed and executed to be simple, easy to maintain and with redundancy of critical systems.
Her rig was especially designed to ensure that all on-deck work on the main is done below the center of effort to eliminate handling sails or reefing above one's head. Her cockpit is spacious and is home to all sailing lines, a carbon fiber oversize wheel, instruments and repeaters. There is even a custom made carbon fiber dinning table for dining under the stars.
"Francescana" is the result of the talents and imagination of the best of the best in their specialties. Rig, engine, hull, electronics, electrical and plumbing were all planned carefully and then executed using the best materials and equipment and installed to the highest yacht standard.
Knowledgeable yachtsmen know that it is in the details that the value and quality of a boat is revealed. This is an area where "Francescana" is truly impressive. A look at the collection of photos will clearly illustrate this point.
"Francescana" was one man's quest for a "perfect cruising boat." She is currently in Curacao, Dutch Antilles and priced very competitively to any comparable Garcia Passoa 46 (Salt 47 Spec).
