She was designed by the legendary Dick Newick and built by the well respected Wood Thurston Company in Maine where the tradition of excellent boat building in America was born. She is well built, well found, well maintained and ready to cruise. This yacht is fast and easy to handle. Her sails and rigging are good. Everything is working on this yacht. Most of you multihull enthusiastes will know Dick Newick designs. Dick Newick's 40' schooner-rigged proa named Cheers was the first US boat to complete the OSTAR single-handed transatlantic race from England to Newport, Rhode Island. That was in 1968 and her skipper was Tom Follett who earned a third place finish. Then, in 1980, the trimaran Moxie skippered by Phil Weld and designed by Dick Newick, won that same race. Accommodations:Sleeps two in stateroom plus one on settee. 4'6" headroom. Galley is to starboard. Opposite is a settee with back cushion. Further forward is a "play pen" berth with back cushions. The head is full forward and can also be reached through a deck hatch. Cushions and covers were new in 2000 and are very comfortable. The boat's exterior received new Awlgrip and barrier coat in 2004. New trampolines in 2003. New barrier coat and bottom paint in November 2009.
Boomless main installed, but boom and conventional mainsail included along with 150% genoa on roller furling and spinnaker.

Folds up on trailer and tow it home. Chichester-cherbourg 9 hours , chichester cowes 1 hour. At this speed and this draft, you can throw your tide tables away, just sheet in and blast off.

Luperon Boat Yacht and Property Sales presents this exciting Wechan 56 OSTAR class racing trimaran. This fine Weychan trimaran finished 5th in her class in 1976 in the OSTAR single handed trans-Atlantic race. Her skipper was John de Trafford. Just to finish in this race is quite an accomplishment. Some of the world's greatest sailors have taken part in this competition including; Eric Tabarly, Pete Goss, Loick Peyron, Francis Joyon, Mike Golding, Michel Desjoyeaux and Ellen MacArthur. The Atlantic is the only judge and allows no room for mistakes, emphasizing that the race truly is inspired by legends and sailed by heroes. My personal inspection of this yacht showed me that she is solid and well maintained. Her rigging appears to be in very good condition. I could find no soft spots anywhere on her decks. She has full headroom throughout with the exception of the aft cabin. She sleeps four comfortably. Her mainsail is brand new and the rest of her sails are in very good condition. She has another full set of sails at Ratsey and Lapthorne Sailmakers in England where they were sent for inspection and reconditioning. A full battened main plus five other sails can be retrieved by paying the sailmaker 1,370 British Pounds and the shipping costs to wherever. This yacht is extremely fast and, although designed as a racing yacht, she is quite comfortable inside. Her engine is clean, well maintained and runs perfectly.
