The Mustang 30 was the first design specifically to the CHS Rule (now IRC) by Paul Handley who also designed the RS K6 keelboat and is a well respected racing design with around 30 built between 1988 and 2002. Moving away from the wide hull and crew balanced IOR concept, originally with a wing keel now updated to the deep fin and bulb of later versions, she is ideally suited to a crew of between 3 and 5, has the ability to plane off wind and represents a low cost way of enjoying exhilarating high performance sailing in a highly manoeuvrable boat while giving a sense of stability due to the well balanced fractional rig and deep fin and bulb keel. Ideal for club racing and with basic accommodation for 4 adults can be enjoyable for passage races as well.
Revolver, built in 1991, has been carefully set up for racing and regularly exceeds 10 knots (the record is 16.6). She meets RORC Category 4 and with some additional equipment would easily come back up to Category 3.
She is extremely light on the helm and with a large rudder is very responsive. A straightforward swept back spreader rig, moderate mainsail and three-quarter foretriangle with a 140% overlap Genoa and a blade jib for above 16kn is all we normally carry. The large Westaway Spinnaker is easy to hoist and recover from a hatch bag. The older heavy spinnaker is valuable for use in marginal and short crewed situations.
Wintered ashore and carefully maintained and well equipped with new Navman instruments. professionally maintained Yanmar 1GM10 diesel. |

Superb high performance racing yacht designed by highly respected John Corby. The third of three built in Cowes by Harley Racing Yachts.
Very good condition with comprehensive wardrobe of IFM Kevlar sails by Quantum Sailmakers. Yanmar diesel.
Launched in 2003 and only lightly raced until end of 2007 since when she has been laid up ashore in Southampton. Underside of hull reskinned in epoxy during 2008.

Accommodation
The interior is simple and only fitted out between the companionway ladder and the bulkhead just forward of the mast. Heads is to starboard of companionway ladder and there is a small wash basin. Ahead of that there is the nav station with seat, chart table and Simrad radio. In the same area to port there is a two burner meths stove, sink, and storage cupboards. A half bulkhead separates this working area from central area where there are four berths (two with two foldaway berths above. There are lockers beneath. This boat has only been day sailed as such the berths, cooker, or the water supply.

A Hand-laminated GRP hull using the best quality modern materials and manufactured in a purpose built plant under strictly controlled conditions.
White Gelcoat and Topside
KEEL
A lead bulb with 3% antimonal of approximately 630 KGs is bolted into a hull recess supported by a GRP keel frame structure. A single point lifting eye attached to the top of the keel.
RUDDER & STEERING GEAR
A transom-hung GRP aerofoil rudder with a laminated wood tiller.
SPARS & RIGGING
A deck-stepped silver-anodised fully tapered fractional mast by Proctor with single spreaders and a matching boom.
A carbon fibre retractable bowsprit by Carbospar
Dyform and 1x19 stainless steel rigging complete with bottle screws and toggles are included plus a dyneema adjustable backstay.
The boom is complete with an internal 6:1 outhaul and reefing line.
Running rigging includes a 2:1 main halyard, one jibe halyard, one fractional and one masthead genniker halyards.
Cunningham tackle is 4:1, cascade vang 16:1, two off jib sheets (inc fine tune), genniker tack line, main sheet and travel control line. Running rigging is a combination of Dyneema and Braid.

I don’t think many people will be looking to buy a Mini Transat because of her luxurious accommodation; the word ‘Spartan’ comes to mind. Yes, there is space to bed down under the cockpit, but no galley, heads or a conventional nav station. Going fast is what this pocket rocket is all about: maximum sail-plan packed into a very modest overall length, and the purpose of most of the space inside is to contain some of the kit that makes her go fast – sails, the gear that cants the keel, and so on. The cockpit is a masterpiece of ergonomics. All the sail controls fall to hand, together with the gear that works the dagger-board and the canting keel. It’s not that often that an out-and-out flying machine like this comes on the market, so she’s unlikely to be hanging around, in any sense of the phrase.
