Sabre 27 Bilge Keel for sale
It is with some reluctance that we put Moodial, our Sabre 27, on the market; but the reason for the sale is to move up in size (in line with the family!), so there is a "silver lining".

We have had Moondial for four years and have logged about 1000NM per season under sail. She lies ashore each year from October to March for the annual ritual of maintenance, up-grades and R&R (on her part). We - a family, including young children - have sailed Moondial extensively in the Solent, the West Country, Channel Islands, France (North Coast) and recently the entirety of the South and East coast between her former home in Southampton to where she now lies (currently ashore) in Newcastle upon Tyne - and beyond, to the Farne Islands and Holy Island.

Every step of the way she has lived up to the, well publicised, Sabre 27 reputation of being strong, reliable and a very safe cruising yacht, even when the sea gets lively - we would claim she is a superior sea-boat to many other larger and newer offerings we have sailed on charter - it is worth checking the Sabre 27 owner's association for full reviews and comments on this class of boat.

Moondial is the bilge keel version of the Sabre 27 (c. 1971, built by Marcon in Woolston, Southampton). She is complete with brass shoes on the keels, which has proved ideal for "creek crawling", but nevertheless, she points well to the wind.

Her general cruising speed is about 4-5 knots, but can comfortably push 7-8 knots in a fair wind. She nominally berths six people and I can vouch-safe for five comfortably.

She is rigged for single-handing (essential with family and children), with headsail roller reefing, single line reefing on the main, with all lines led to the cockpit.

The engine, a Bukh DV10, is reliable (never not started for me) and well maintained (see above re: family and children). The fuel tank holds approx. 60 litres, giving a motoring range of about 250NM before you need to start using the spare cans (we never have).

She has various creature comforts, technical and sailing conveniences - some installed by us - which makes her a very pleasant stay aboard and, more importantly, excellent sailing - I have listed the main features below and will be happy to elaborate on enquiry.
