The 26 was the first Macwester model and proved to be a popular and very tough bilge keel cruiser with a lot of space for a boat of its size.
The Macwester 26 is similar in many ways to the Westerly Centaur and is a comparable boat. If you're considering buying a Centaur, don't miss looking at this one.
The owner is currently fully refurbishing the interior. Once this is completed we will return and take a full set of photographs and 360 degree tour inside.
The price indicated includes the full interior refurbishment.
With new rigging, new sails, a new engine and a refurbished interior she is well worth a look.

It does go to show how far ahead of their time these boats where. They are still popular today because they deliver what a lot people need to get on the water with a good deal of comfort at a good value price. It is far to say this boat could do with bit of polishing and some upgrading on the instrumentation would help, but she could conceivably be sailed as she is and would still deliver a lot of enjoyment at a reasonable price. These boat details are subject to contract.

The Macwester Wight Series II Ketch is a classic built Motorsailer with twin keels and a Centreline skeg hung rudder. Built by Macwester Marine, who were founded by the Naval Architect CSJ Roy in the Sixties and based in Littlehampton, she is a very solidly built boat.
ENGINE: BMC Captains 32hp Diesel Inboard Engine with 2 x 20 Gallon Stainless Steel Fuel Tanks. Cruising Speed: 5knts. Top Speed: 6knts.
ACCOMMODATION: The Main Cabin is extremely roomy, with Dinette arrangement to Starboard. An especially made drop-leaf table seats six for meals.
Over to port is the chart table with a snug berth beneath, then the Galley with good stowage for crockery and cooking utensils, and a Gas Cooker with Two Rings, Oven and Grill on Gimballs. Opposite this is the heads compartment containing a Sea Toilet and wash basin.
The forecabin is another place of comfort, roomy with good headroom and wide bunks, shelves and hanging lockers. There is an infill to convert the whole cabin into one vast bed, the same in the aft cabin.
The aft cabin is a delight with its two generous bunks and cupboards and hanging lockers. The only drawback here by today's standards is that it does not have walk-through access from the main cabin, but then, the plus is that it is absolutely private.
SERVICES: A manual Water pump supplies Water to the Sink in the Galley area and is supplied via a 20 Gallon Stainless Steel Water Tank.
SPARS, RIGGING & SAILS: Ketch Rigged coupled with a large Furling Genoa, new Mainsail with cover, and a new Mizzen with a cover. Recently renewed Stainless Steel Rigging.
ELECTRONICS: Fixed VHF Marine Radio with external Loudspeaker. Handheld VHF Radio. GPS. Radar. Sharps Autohelm. Compass. 2 x 110 Batteries and Charger Unit.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT: New Electric Windlass with new Bruce Anchor. 2 x Automatic Bilge Pumps (Engine and Main Cabin Bilges). 1 x Manual Bilge Pump (Engine). 1 x 6 Man Liferaft. 4 x Deck Harnesses with Jackstays with Deck-Running attachments. 5 x Big Fenders plus additional smaller ones. Boarding Ladder. Boat Hooks. Emergency Dan Buoy. 2 x Lifebuoys. Avon Redcrest Dinghy with Holdall, Paddles, Electric Pump and Engine Mounting Bracket. |

Designed by C S J Roy and built by Macwester Marine in 1974, the MacWester 27 is a popular and very tough bilge keel cruiser with a lot of space for a boat of its size. Four berths in two cabins. A popular and strongly constructed cruiser. Extended bilge keels enhance windward performance, and her heavy displacement provides solid, true sea-going performance. The interior is spacious and well planned, making excellent use of space.
ENGINE: New Yanmar GM20 Fitted in 2001 only 6 hours of running time.
ACCOMMODATION: The Fore Cabin has 2 single berths with infill to use as a double, shelved lockers, hatch to fore deck, stowage under and hatch to chain locker. The Saloon has 2 berths with shelves over, stowage under and a table with folding leaf.
DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT: Sink and drainer, foot water pump, 2 drawers under sink.
SPARS, RIGGING & SAILS: New standing rigging fitted 2001/2. Furling Headsail. Reefed main.
DECK EQUIPMENT: Echo Sounder, Autohelm. 2 Anchors. Warps. Compass. Boat hook and Fenders. Windlass. Sea Toilet.
ELECTRONICS:, two batteries 12 volt (new 2007) for engine and domestic. Do require attention
SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Life Raft (does require servicing)
CURRENT LOCATION: Wm Partington Marine – Hardstanding.

Bilge keel GRP 1974 Bermudan Rigged Yacht. Excellent safe seagoing vessel.
I have owned yacht for nearly 20 years. Last survey 2005 no issues highlighted. Hull epoxied by myself at time of purchase. New Yanmar 20 twin cylinder diesel engine fitted 2001, only run for 3 hours. New standing and running rigging fitted 2001.
Inventory includes mainsail , genoa, spare jib, roller reefing on main and foresail, windlass, depth sounder, compass, autohelm, life raft (needs service), dodgers,warps,anchor, sea toilet, flag and pole. There is no cooker fitted. there are 5 berths, fitted dinette and chart table.
Vessel has had little use over past 5 years. Electrics require attention and yacht requires a good clean and some TLC. This is reflected in the asking price. These yachts usually sell for between £8000 to £12000 depending on year and condition. An excellent value purchase for anyone prepared to invest some time and a little money into bringing the yacht back to its former glory. I have sailed this yacht with my family aboad, in some fairly desperate conditions over the years and have never felt any concerns regarding the vessels sea keeping abilities |
