CONYPLEX CONTEST 29
A very nice Conyplex, Contest 29, built in 1967 with all the original registration documents, the Contest 29 has a faithful following for safe cruising and passage making, the emphasis being on safety and comfort. This well maintained example was completely refurbished and renovated in 2006/7 by Rogerio Rangel Gomez, and surveyed by Ray Baldwin in June 2007, and further benefits from refurbishment of the engine in 2008 / 9 along with new anodes and re-antifouling. She has an excellent interior finish, with all the wood having been renovated, new cooker and toilet fitted and the fabric replaced and has an oak floor to the main saloon. Many original features have been maintained giving her a classic look and feel.

Construction Hull deck and superstructure in hand laid glass with gel coat finish enamel.
The underwater profile is of a long fin keel with keel hung rudder with tiller steering. The keel is of cast Iron and is encapsulated. Displacement weight: 3,200 kgs

Machinery Auxiliary power is provided by a Sole three cylinder naturally aspirated engine rated at 17hp, it is sea water cooled via a heat exchanger. The engine was reconditioned in 2007/8 and is electric start and fitted with Tachometer, charging light, oil pressure light and temperature alarms. Under power this engine gives a maximum speed of approx 6 knts. Fuel Capacity: 15 Gallons (believed)
Electrics The craft is fitted with a 12 volt electrical system comprising of 1 x 120 amp hr battery charged from the engine alternator.

Mast Spars & Rigging Silver anodized aluminum mast and boom with single spreaders and stainless steel standing rigging. The rigging was replaced in 2005 and has seen little seagoing use since that time. At this time a roller reefing system was fitted for the head sail. The craft is fitted with 2 x Sheet winches and 1 x Halyard/Reefing winch and 1 x (original) spare winch

Accommodation Five berths in two cabins including saloon comprising Forward double cabin, two single settee berths in the saloon and a quarter berth starboard side aft. The saloon offers a center drop table, with stowage behind the settee berths. The galley is located Portside aft and is equipped with a two burner gas cooker with oven and grill, and stainless sink. The heads compartment located between the forward cabin and saloon is fitted with a sea toilet. Maximum headroom is listed as 600 Interior joinery we believe to be mahogany, with upholstery in a deep green material.
Comments Although an older craft of classic design and lines the Contest 29 has a faithful following. Renowned for their sea kindly disposition this craft is very suitable for the novice sailor or passage maker who is more interest in safe sailing rather than speed.
Ideally suited to cruise the Solent, South Coast of UK, Europe, , or for simply taking the family out on the water.
