The Albin Ballad is a good solid very capable sailing yacht very comparable with the famous Contessa 32. Her owner boasts being able to outsail the latter and I could well believe it. Although the Ballad is slightly shorter she feels bigger than the Contessa. She has had an engine upgrade. A good value cruiser/ racer with the usual scandinavian build quality. These boat details are subject to contract.

ALBIN BALLAD half ton cruiser/racer built by Albin Marine, Sweden in 1973. Thousands spent – Topside professionally spray-painted 2002, GRP underside of hull sandblasted and epoxy coatings applied. Standing rigging replaced & new Selden furlex 2003. An elegant fast classic cruiser well sought after with lovely lines and excellent sea keeping qualities. Masthead sloop rigged fin keel encapsulating lead ballasted. New Z-spars boom.
ENGINE: Yanmar GM9 engine (overhauled 05) with stainless steel fuel tank (7 Gallon). Shaft driven two bladed propeller, 2x batteries
ACCOMMODATION: 6 Berths, double forcabin, 2 singles in Saloon, 2 in quarter cabin
Beautifully appointed interior with full standing headroom in main cabin.
DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT: Well laid out galley & toilet compartment with wash basin Whale footpumps & Jabsco seatoilet. Flexible & Plastic water tanks. Flavel hob & grill and a Flavel oven. A well protected and yet roomy cockpit area with lockers offering excellent storage.

Engine, Stern Gland & Fuel Tanks
Fitted exhaust water lock. Fitted anti siphon valve. Replaced CAV fuel filter need replacing and fuel sediment bowl and drain plug needs changing to a metal one. Fitted a fuel isolation valve. Replaced Fuel hoses with copper and pipes connected with compression fittings. Lubricated lines
Replaced rubber gland hose this need to be secured and double clipped with stainless steel clips to BS 5315
Hull & Rudder
Removed rudder and dry out, reinforce with sheathing, epoxy fill & fair. Completed other minor jobs
Deck Fittings
Replaced bent stainless steel stanchion. Re-bedded all stanchion bases. Replaced the bow roller
Seacocks & Cooling System
Replaced brass gate valve with Silicon Bronze. Keel seacock opening replaced. Foam bulk head for water to run down the mast completed. Pipes have secured and double clipped to BS5315. Dedicated discharge to the sink. Upgrades raw water cooling hoses with heavy duty rubber type – fire resistant
Replaces all inlet seacocks
Windows Vents and Hatches
Replaced fore hatch seals

Well found Bermudan sloop built by Robertson's of Sandbank for discerning owners, she sails well in a breeze and would happily cruise offshore or cross oceans, and is a well behaved sailing boat for the single handed sailor (will hove-to if required), also lots of family fun inshore, easy to sail and is stiff in gusty conditions.
Five berths with lead keel, insulated mast, tiller steering.
Good quality upholstery, spray hood, Whale manual bilge pump plus automatic electric pump.
Cooker oven with grill, navigator's chart table, Lavac heads
with bronze fittings.
Yanmar engine, fixed prop.
Lewmar winches, Plastimo self-steering.
Currently rigged with twin foresails, there is a very full sail wardrobe, including a self-furling genoa (needs re cutting), newish quality mainsail, trysail, storm jib and working jib. Medium weight spinnaker. Slab reefing, no need for lazy-jacks
- using a working jib and mainsail there is little need for deck work and reefing is easy when hove to!
Needs new standing rigging .... cost £1000 (=/-£200)
