This vessel was built as a fast racer cruiser which combines three main elements;-
i. powerful sail rig and shallow hull with deep fin keel for speed
ii. large mainsail, self tacking jib, and furling gennaker combined with a powerful electric winch in cockpit with all lines led aft. This creates a vessel that requires minimum crew for maximum effect.
iii. Spacious and comfortable interior, providing excellent cruising accommodation. A spacious starboard quarter cabin, spacious fore cabin, main cabin with genuine double berth, full galley.

The now well respected Dehler brand needs no introduction. This is a well looked after and serviced regularly 34s. She is starting to show her age from a cosmetic point of view, but a couple of weekends and a tin of varnish and some elbow grease will very soon bring her up to scratch and make her a very fit and able sailing yacht capable of going anywhere. The Dehler 25 (also known as the Dehlya 25) combines the legendary design quality of Van de Stadt with the equally legendary build quality of Dehler.
The Dehler 25 is designed as a trailable yacht with the feel of a big boat. It comes with an exceptionally well thought out trailer & launching trolley combination and a simple yet effective mast raising and lowering system to enable this operation to be carried out single-handed. The vertically lifting cast iron keel and removable rudder makes loading it on to the trailer an easy task (and allows it to dry out comfortably), and draining the water ballast keeps the total towing weight below two tonnes so that it can be towed with ease by a 2-litre family car to new cruising grounds, or home in the winter.
At sea, the Dehler 25 is an exceptionally quick boat on all points of sailing, especially to windward, and in all conditions. It is very seaworthy, stiff and comfortable, and copes well in fresh conditions. It handles easily and predictably, with no vices. All lines, including reefing lines, are led back to the cockpit. This, together with a roller reefing system on the foresail and a packaway & lazyjack system on the mainsail, means that deckwork can be kept to a minimum.
With a large self-draining cockpit, four berths (in two light and airy cabins), and plenty of stowage it is an ideal cruiser for a couple or a family with young children, with the speed it covers ground quickly (and also can be competitive in club racing, if required). |
