A good example of this well known class – Laid up unused since 2006.
Engine:
A Honda BF6, 6hp, 4 stroke outboard. New in 2004. The engine is always lifted out of the well and rinsed with fresh water after use, and then stored dry. And as such is in excellent condition. The engine was serviced last year (receipt available) and has only been used once since. The first 2 annual services were complete by Honda.
Rig:
Mast, boom and spinnaker pole from proctors. The standing rigging was replaced by Alladins Cave 2005. The running rigging has been progressively replaced during current ownership. The winches are single speed Gibb's, most of the large blocks are Barton ball bearing type, with the smaller ones stainless steel plain bearing type, some original tufnul blocks remain also.
Sails:
Mainsail was made by Kemps in 2005. The mainsail stows between lazy jacks, in a stack pack bag on the boom, also made by Kemps in 2005
Number one genoa also made by Kemps in 2005 is a try radial 'cruising laminate' sail, with camber stripes and tell tales. The two together set beautifully.
Number two genoa/jib is by Crusader.
Number three jib make unknown came with the boat, but still sets well, and is cut with a high foot making it very useful in crowded water, and is flat enough that the boat will still point well in a force 6 wind.

Symmetrical spinnaker
Interior:
The interior has been slightly modified from standard; first with the installation of a Taylor's 030 cooker, providing 2 rings, grill and oven, and, boat heating. Secondly the port quarter-berth has been modified to provide extra storage, but in such a way that it could easily be converted back to a 4 berth layout. There are currently no upholstery cushions on board, and the headlining could do with being renewed.

No. 304 fin keel. Painted white. Full set of hanked on sails with boom roller reefing main and spinnaker all in good condition. Aug 2005 5hp mercury 2 stroke engine very low hours. Danforth anchor with 50m chain/anchorplait, fenders, mooring ropes. Plastimo contest bulkhead compass, 2 bilge pumps 1 fixed 1 handheld both manual, horseshoe lifebuoy and light. A 70 ah vetus marine battery sends power to a VHF radio with whip aerial and external speaker, a nasa clipper deut combined speed depth, a aqua signal masthead tricolour nav light incorporating a windex and 2 internal cabin lights. All in good working order. A gas fuelled 2 burner hob and grill, chemical toilet and vinyl covered cushions throughout. Boat comes with its own sturdy 2 wheeled trailer. |

This Achilles 24 is a fin keel and in good condition. She has been cruised extensively in the Bristol Channel, mainly single handedly. Well worth viewing. Ideal purchase for a first time boat owner.

The Yacht is now out of the water and stored ashore with the mast un-stepped.
Designer = Oliver Lee. Builder = Butler Mouldings of Gowerton (Swansea).
Construction = GRP. White hull, Red antifouling, blue boot topping. Iron fin keel. Skeg mounted rudder with tiller steering.
Accomodation = 4 berths (2 quarter berths and a 'V' berth up fwd).
Electrics. One cabin and one cockpit speaker. Internal cabin lights. Masthead navigation lights and anchor light (Disconnected because mast un-stepped).
Rigging, Spars and Sails = Sloop rigged, aluminium mast and boom. Stainless steel rigging (new 2006), 4 x Barlow winches, Slab reefing mainsail, 2 x hank on foresails, All running rigging re-newed 2006.
