The Hunter Duette is rightly renowned as a "proper little yacht" and is largely responsible for the continuing success of (British) Hunter Yachts, Fast and seaworthy for her size she makes an excellent cruising boat and with her high aspect ratio twin keels can explore drying harbours yet still give fin keelers a run for their money. Bilge keel cruiser/racer,two sets of sails plus one symetrical spinnaker, spinnaker pole, outboard engine situated in a well , honda four stroke five horse power, navman vhf, nasa log, nasa depth sounder, nasa anemometer (wind speed) with direction displayed on instrument,tiller steering, sloop rigged aluminium spars with stainless steel standing rigging, manual water system, autohelm, two anchors, chains and warps, fenders, spray hood, wind dogers displaying name, clock, navigation lights, instrument covers, all warps, under bunk battery, switch panel, barometer, boat hook, life buoy, boarding ladder,lifting rudder to prevent it from hitting the ground when dried out, manual bilge pump, fire extinguisher, wc system, cooker, sink, slab reefed main and roller reefing genoa. complete with four wheeled R.M. road trailer. well taken care of boat , washed polished and anti-fouled ready to go for this years sailing season. External timberwork needs a coat of varnish. local mooring available for the rest of this season, negotiable for next year. |

Magic Dragon is a good example of a Hunter Europa and is well fitted out inside and out with good sized inventory. This is great safe starter boat and is proved to be reliable and sea worthy.
Set-up for racing and cruising, I have raced regulary though the past four seasons and achieved good results, particularly in the Round the Island race. (6th in class and 29th o.a.this year). She also has been cruised a fair amount with weeks away along the coast. Despite her size I would be confident in a Hunter Europa in most conditions.
Three years ago I stripped all old antifouling off back to the gelcoat which was a big job and since then I have regularly faired and smoothed her. She therefore has slippery and smooth underside.

Continuing ill health forces sale of clean, well maintained boat, built 1987, commissioned 1988, hull and sale number 124. Surveyed 2008. Laid up since last autumn. Yanmar 1GM10 diesel 1991, recently serviced, new filters, pump, anode etc.
Parker and Kay mainsail 1999, Crusader genoa 1998 on Pastimo furling grar. 3 reefs in main, first two controlled from cockpit. Tabernacle mounted mast, adjustable backstay, Lewmar sheet winches and halyard winch, spin lock rope clutches, Whisker pole. All standing and running rigging replaced over last 9 years.
Plastimo contest bulkhead steering compass with light, Stowe echo sounder and speed/log, NASA Clipper wind instrument. Kelvin Hughes VHF, with Windex on masthead aerial, Autohelm ST1000 tiller pilot, Garmin GPS with fittings for cockpit and chart table use, Icom hand held VHF with holder.
20-lb CQR anchor with 19 metres 8mm chain plus 50 metres multiplat warp. 2 heavy duty, dual purpose batteries with full switching. Sailing and motoring lights, deck light several cabin lights.
Horseshoe lifebuoy on transome with emergency light. Manual bilge pump with diverter valve to either sump or hose. Fire extinguisher and fire blanket. 6 strong points for harness.
Pilot gas alarm. Echomax radar reflector mounted on mast. Seago 4 man liferaft, new 2007, serviced to 2010. Extending fixed boarding ladder.
4-6 berths in two cabins, separate heads with sea toilet and wash basin. Plastimo 2 hobs, grill and oven cooker, ice box, and large lockers. Warps,, fenders, boathook, ensign and staff, wooden and Perspex washboards. |
